課程概述

The seminar will focus on the best of Western scholarship for the Five Dynasties and Song since the 1980s, as pertains to politics, institutions, culture and society. Most of the assigned readings are available in Chinese translation, although students are also encouraged to read in the original.

Objectives:
1) applying different methodologies to one’s own work;
2) expanding your interdisciplinary horizons;
3) enhancing analytical framework;
4) assessing feasibility of topics;  
課程要求
Requirements: Student presentation, in Chinese, relating the assigned readings to your own research, in Power Point. (The Power Point should be emailed to me five days before presentation.)
